You might encounter a problem with the ERWIN date field when importing ERWIN data models into SAS®, using the SAS® Metadata Bridges for CA (ERWIN). The problem is that the Erwin date field is being imported into SAS as a simple numeric value, without any SAS format applied to it, despite Erwin using a DATE datatype.
To demonstrate the problem,view Properties, and then go to the GENERAL tab on the variable in ERWIN; the field is shown as DATE, not as numeric. After importing the ERWIN data model into SAS, the SAS variable format is BESTw., which is a numeric field and incorrect.
To circumvent this issue, a SAS Format must be associated with each date/datetime variable to create a SAS date field; or else, it will not match the Erwin description and SAS will assign the field as numeric.
A hot fix will be available for SAS9.2 M3.
